Where I Want My Next Tropical Destination To Be & Why

I personally LOVE the beach. Staying in an all-inclusive resort on a white sand beach, with a view of the sparkling blue water is pretty much all I dream about. And having the option to stay in an over-the-water bungalow would be an amazing bonus! Therefore, my next destination of choice would have to be Montego Bay, Jamaica.

About

Montego Bay, located in the northwest portion of the Jamaican island, is full of resorts, beaches, and some golf courses. It is a popular vacation destination for tourists, as it is full of natural beauty, lively nightlife, shops, and activities. On average, the temperature is between 72 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, which is ideal for taking a dip in the ocean or the pool.

An Inside Look at L.A.

Personal experience

Over 6 years ago, I took a trip to the City of Angels, or more widely known as, Los Angeles, California. My AirBnB was in a prime location of West Hollywood, just steps to the Walk of Fame. Within the week that I was there, some of the major attractions that I hit were the Griffith Observatory, with a view of the infamous “Hollywood” sign to my left, the Santa Monica Pier, Koreatown, and the Grove. And yes, of course, I had to try In N’ Out Burger. Besides West Hollywood, I took transportation to and from North Hollywood and Anaheim. In Anaheim, I attended the annual Vidcon event, as I was in two YouTube Collab groups at the time. While at the event, I met popular YouTube stars including Christian Collins, Maggie Lindemann, Arden Rose, Lauren Giraldo, and Zachary Piona. I had an overall great vacation in Los Angeles and am looking forward to eventually going back again.

About L.A.

Located in Southern California, Los Angeles has the most amazing weather, especially when I visited in July. During that time, it was, on average, 75 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, every day. The coldest month there is January, and even then, the weather only drops down to roughly 55 degrees Fahrenheit. However, if you want to avoid larger crowds, you may want to try to go between March and May or between September and November. For specifically going to the beaches, July or August would be recommended.

L.A. is the biggest city in the state, consisting of over 500 square miles. There are a total of 88 smaller cities just within that metropolitan area.

Favorite Tourist Attractions

  • Runyon Canyon – This is where you may have a chance to spot a celebrity on a hike. Justin Bieber, Channing Tatum, and Natalie Portman have been seen here before.
  • Griffith Park – Being 5x larger than Central Park in New York City, it contains a planetarium/observatory, golf courses, zoo, train rides, tennis courts, trails, and the Bronson Caves, where the Batman series took place. This park, and Lake Hollywood Park, are likely the greatest places to observe the Hollywood sign.
  • Universal Studios – Found in the San Fernando Valley region is this 425 acre theme park and film studio. There are tours with attractions there, based on movies, including Jaws and the Fast and Furious franchise. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you need to check out the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” area within the park. Get tickets here.
  • Disneyland – Based off of Disney-themed movies, it is nearly impossible to not have fun spending the day at the Disneyland park in Anaheim.
  • Santa Monica – This coastal city, beach, and pier, home to the end of Route 66, overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
  • Sunset Boulevard – This iconic strip is 22 miles long. You will probably want to explore the stretch between North Crescent Heights Blvd and Doheny Drive, where the stores and nightlife are. Along the boulevard are tourist stops, like the Roxy Theater, where Bob Marley recorded live albums, and The Comedy Store, where Jerry Seinfeld has performed.
  • Rodeo Drive – This Beverly Hills road is known for its designer boutiques, Armani, Cartier, and Coco Chanel, to name a few. Britney Spears, P. Diddy, Paris Hilton, and Jack Black are some of many public figures who shop here.
  • Warner Bros. StudioHere, you can purchase tickets to take a tour of the studio where the hit TV shows Friends and The Big Bang Theory were shot.
  • Beaches – Huntington, Venice, Laguna, and Malibu are among the highest-rated beaches on the Southern California coastline.
  • Hollywood Blvd – Along this lively street, you can find the Walk of Fame, with approximately 2500 Hollywood star’s names on it. Plus, the Kodak Theater is where the Academy Awards are held annually. And let’s not forget about the TCL Chinese Theater, the location at which the Stars Wars franchise premiered back in 1977.
  • Capital Records – Intended to look like a stack of vinyl records set on a turntable, this building is the studio in which Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole have recorded songs.
  • Guided Tour – Ride in a vehicle and take pictures of celebrity homes in Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills.

The Outback of Australia

Western Australia is the largest of the 6 states in the country, covering 1/3 of it. This land mainly consists of a dry, open desert with plateaus and mountain ranges.

Yet, it is also home to vineyards, caves, and beaches along the Indian Ocean. So, if you are wondering if you should travel there in the future, the answer is definitely yes!

Perth
Photo taken by Pedro Szekely

Perth (pictured above), a huge metropolitan area on the coast of Western Australia, is worth stopping at. Inside of this area is the international airport, historical sites, museums, a planetarium, retail shopping, arcades, dining, bars, nightclubs, rum distilleries, parks, and much more.

More specifically, the top sights include:

  • King’s Park and Botanic Garden
  • The Bell Tower
  • Adventure World

A great location for exploring the Outback would be the region known as the Kimberley. It is at the very top of the country, bordering the northern territory. It has several breathtaking sites all throughout, such as gorges, rock pools, beaches, and waterfalls. However, you will either need to take a guided tour, which can last between 2 days and 2 weeks, or use a 4WD vehicle, due to the uneven terrain.

Within the Kimberley is a town with a magnificent beach, called Broome. It is a popular tourism destination with hot spots including:

  • Cable Beach
  • Karijini National Park
  • Sun Pictures
  • Gantheaume Point
  • Streeter’s Jetty
  • Rowley Shoals
  • Willie Creek Pearl Farm
  • Sundowner Camel Tours
  • Broome Gallery

13 Important Items to Bring to Europe

Plug Adapter

You’re going to need some kind of plug adapter if you live in the United States and are traveling to somewhere in Europe, since they differ. This pack shown above comes with two adapters, including USB spots.

Neck Wallet/Passport Holder

Not only is this wallet water-resistant, but it also has multi-function features including a keychain holder, a place for your cell phone, a coin pocket, and a pen holder.

Prepaid Europe SIM Card

With this, you will not have to worry about wasting your money on expensive mobile roaming fees. Instead, it is useful when it comes to, for instance, ordering an Uber.

TSA Approved Travel Bottles

This 15 pack of travel bottles can be filled with 2.9 oz of liquid. The kit comes in different colors and includes a clear bag with spray bottles, silicone bottles, cream bottles, and a pump bottle, all of which are leakproof.

Filtered Water Bottle

This particular water bottle contains a filter to remove bacteria and ensure that the water is clean and safe to drink.

Luggage Set

This lightweight yet durable suitcase set comes with 3 bags.

Support Travel Pillow

This support pillow is made of memory foam and comes with a removable/washable case. It assists in providing extra support for your neck, which is convenient for long plane rides.

Sleep Mask

The soft cotton mask blocks out the light and is very comfortable to wear due to its breathable fabric.

Wireless Ear Buds

The small, wireless ear buds can connect to your phone through Bluetooth. The waterproof pair comes with a wireless charging case.

Books

Bring a few novels to read on your long plane ride or during your down time!

VPN

Often times, video streaming services including Netflix are blocked when you travel to European countries. Therefore, a virtual private network will ensure that you have a secure connection for that, as well as, keeping your private data safe.

Comfortable Shoes

These are necessary when exploring and hiking all over the country, of course.

Windproof Umbrella

Considering it rains quite a lot on this continent, it is very smart to always carry a windproof umbrella around.

The Beauties of South Africa

The country of South Africa is filled with landscapes that are just beautiful. Let’s take a look at them!

  • Durban

This South African city lies in the east, right off the coast of the Indian Ocean. Not only is it the perfect temperature all year long, rarely dropping below 64 degrees Fahrenheit, it also has gorgeous beaches. On the North Beach, you will find what is called the Golden Mile. It is a large area of white sand, a boardwalk, casino, and piers. Right along the Golden Mile is the luxurious Beverly Hills Hotel, where you can catch amazing sunsets on the coastline.

  • Garden Route

The Garden Route is a stretch along the bottom tip of South Africa. It goes on for 190 miles. On it, you can view rivers, towns, mountains, forests, beaches, and lagoons. You may even have the chance to go on a whale/dolphin-watching tour in Knysna.

You may also be interested in exploring at Tsitsikamma National Park. The Suspension Bridge & Lookout Trail is an easy walk, passing by the Strandloper Cave. The Waterfall Trail is tougher, yet shorter. As for hotels, the Plettenberg, Simola Country Club, and The Mount Knysna are rated as some of the best value hotels along this route.

  • Panorama Route

This is a scenic route in the north-eastern part of the country. Along are notable sights, including Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Lisbon Falls, God’s Window, and Sudwala Caves. Ukuthula Bush Lodge, Sheppard Boutique Guest House, and Safari Moon Luxury Bush Hotel make for excellent accommodations on the way.

  • Cape Town

Cape Town, found on the south-western shore, is home to pristine beaches and marvelous landmarks. Around this town, you will see Table Mountain, Clifton Beach, and Signal Hill. Popular places to stay are Lagoon Beach, Ellerman House, and POD Camps Bay.

  • Kruger National Park

Located at the very top of South Africa is this giant game reserve. All of the big five game animals, the lion, cheetah, leopard, rhinoceros, and elephant can all be found at the park. So, be sure to go on a safari there when you visit!

If you’re ready to book your vacation to South Africa, please reach out to me.

Stay at The #1 Resort in Nashville

The most exquisite hotel located in Nashville, Tennessee, is easily the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. It is approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown. But, there is plenty to do within walking distance as well. For example, it sits next to the Grand Ole Opry, where the 55th ACM Awards were hosted in September of 2020. The resort also sits along the Cumberland River, with a mall, food joints, a water park, and a golf course nearby.

The 4.6 star place itself is situated on 9 acres of indoor gardens, waterfalls, and a river. The atrium, where you can take an indoor boat ride, is absolutely jaw-dropping. And, when it comes to eating, there are 20 places to choose from, just inside the hotel! Meanwhile, the European-inspired spa offers many services, such as body treatments, facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, and more. Additional amenities are a state-of-the-art fitness center, game room, newsstand, barber/beauty shop, florist, and a shoeshine stand.

If you stay here, you CAN’T miss the SoundWaves indoor and outdoor water attraction. The Lagoon Activity Pool features a rock wall and basketball hoops. There are two other heated pools in the vicinity too: one with a swim-up bar for adults and one for those who want to swim in a lap lane. And, I can’t forget about the wave rider, lazy river, and water slides!

Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention

When it comes to rooms, the hotel has 3 different types. The least expensive is the guest room, which is the size of a typical hotel room, filled with contemporary decor, a television, radio, mini fridge, a sink area, bathroom, desk, chair, coffeemaker, and either one king or two queen beds.

If you’d like to upgrade, you can pay for the parlor or the deluxe room. The parlor has all of the same furniture as the guest rooms, but with different style decor, additional furniture, and much more space. It is a large suite with a queen-sized bed, plus a couch in the room’s lounge area.

As for the deluxe, this is basically the size of a mini apartment! It includes a 6-chair dining area, a lounge area with a television, couch, 2 sofa chairs, and a coffee table. This room is by far the biggest, and comes with a queen-sized bed.

If you stay at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, you are sure to be amazed, and you will never get bored! Not to mention, you will get VERY reasonable rates, depending on the dates that you book your stay. If you have any further questions, please reach out to me.

Thanks for the read 🙂

The Ultimate Magic Kingdom Experience

In January of 2019, my husband and I visited Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The first day in the parks, we went to the Magic Kingdom!

When walking into the infamous theme park, guests will encounter “Main Street U.S.A.” On both sides are shops, restaurants, and even an in-use barber shop. Along this path is where parades occur as well. Of course, I can’t leave out that guests will then get their first glance at the spectacular Cinderella’s Castle. Inside this structure is a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (a salon for young princes/princesses), and Cinderella’s Royal Table, an excellent choice for dining. If you’re very lucky, you can be invited to sleep in the Cinderella Castle Suite. Only those who are either “gifted” by Disney or win a special contest can kick back in the jacuzzi bath tub and watch a movie on their secret mirror televisions. Celebrities such as Tom Cruise and Katy Perry have been given the chance to be guests for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Rides/Attractions

The Magic Kingdom is divided into five sections: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, and Tomorrowland.

Adventureland

  • Jungle Cruise: a canopy-covered boat that tours four continents, passing by mechanical jungle animals and scenery
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (usually only for kids/parents): control pitch/height of your magic carpet as you fly around
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: boat ride through darkened, underground cavern as you pass by Captain Jack Sparrow and settings that correlate with the movie
  • Swiss Family Treehouse: climb up six stories to see a 360 degree view of Magic Kingdom
  • Enchanted Tiki Room: performance in a tropical pavilion of audio-animatronic birds

Fantasyland

  • Barnstormer (kids): small coaster featuring Goofy as he becomes a circus stunt pilot
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant (kids): carousels of elephants rotating in a circle
  • “it’s a small world”: while playing the song that the ride is named after, you are taken on a journey of whimsical attractions
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: minor rollercoaster that heads underground, where the dwarfs are in the diamond mine
  • Journey of the Little Mermaid: guests are turned in their clam-shaped seats while Ariel and other characters from the Disney movie sing “Under the Sea”
  • Enchanted Tales with Belle: fairytale production of Beauty and the Beast
  • Prince Charming Regal Carrousel: merry go-round of 90 different horses
  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic: 3-D presentation of Disney animated musical sequences
  • Peter Pan’s Flight: special glow-in-the-dark effects are created as you enter into Never Land on your flying ship
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: take a trip through Hundred-Acre Wood in a large “Hunny Pot” vehicle
  • Mad Tea Party (kids): spin yourself around in a gigantic tea cup, inspired by Alice in Wonderland

Frontierland

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroadfast-paced rollercoaster train ride through an abandoned gold mine
  • Tom Sawyer Island: adventurous playground mainly for children that can only be reached by raft; rocking chairs and nature trails available for parents
  • Splash Mountain: log flume with 52 foot plunge

Liberty Square

  • Haunted Mansion: guests hop on their “Doom Buggies” to explore the gothic mansion in the dark
  • Liberty Square Riverboat: authentic replica of an old paddle wheel riverboat, flowing down the Rivers of America
  • Hall of Presidents: perfect for history-lovers, this exhibit tells a story on the founding of the nation

Tomorrowland

  • Stitch’s Great Escape: an interactive show of Experiment 626 causing havoc as discovered by the Galactic Federation
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin: while riding XP-37 Space Cruisers, you are shooting lasers in the middle of an enormous arcade game
  • Astro Orbiter: guests are given the ability to control their own rockets as they are lifted into the galaxy
  • Carousel of Progress: the revolving theater displays the evolution of technology in the 20th century
  • Space Mountain: a dark, indoor roller coaster that takes you on a voyage through outer space
  • Tomorrowland Speedway: guests cruise around a four lane racetrack in a gas-powered sports car
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor: comedy show involving guests laughing in order for Mike and Sully to generate enough electricity for Monstropolis
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover: magnetically pulled cars that are elevated, giving you sights of the park

Every night, right before the park closes, the cast sets off a firework display right behind Cinderella’s Castle. They are well worth waiting for and gathering around to watch, in my opinion.

Lodging

  1. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
DisneyWorld - Grand Floridian

In this resort/spa you can choose a room with views of the theme park across Bay Lake. It conveniently offers a free theme park shuttle, two outdoor pools (one with a swim up bar), fitness center, and an arcade.

2. Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Bay Lake Tower

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the closest hotel to the Magic Kingdom. As the monorail travels directly through the resort, you can easily jump on it, or walk a brief 10 minutes to the entrance of the park. You can even watch the fireworks show from the comfort of your own room or from the California Grill, which is at the top of the building. After spending all day standing in line or on rides, you can get a drink at the bar/lounge or take a dip in the beautiful pool.

3. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Florida Tour, August 2006

This property is unique in its style, as it has a Polynesian theme in each room, the bar/restaurant, coffee shop, game room, gym, and the entertainment, which includes fire dances. The Lava Pool features a water slide within a volcano, as well as, an infinity hot tub.

4. Four Seasons Resort Orlando

Inside of the Four Seasons is two luxury boutiques, a spacious fitness center, pool tables, and six places to eat/drink. Outside are basketball and volleyball courts, a five-acre water park, and an adults-only infinity pool with cabanas.

5. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

The forest-themed lodge is filled with wood-carved furniture. The massive outdoor pool is said to be “spring-fed” from the hot spring located in the lobby. Outdoor activities such as a 2.5 mile jogging trail, fishing excursions, bike or boat rentals, and campfire/movies are available here, too.
